The Battle of Hatcher's Run
Hello and welcome to the website promoting the much-neglected American Civil War Battle of Hatcher’s Run, February 5-7, 1865. Never has such a comprehensive description of the battle been presented before. Readers are guided through the events leading up to the fight, the battle itself, and its aftermath. Each page provides a summary of a battle phase, accompanied by one or more downloadable PDFs that include a scholarly account of that phase. The material is free to use, although I kindly request that this site is appropriately acknowledged.
In our digital age, this approach affords many advantages over, say, a traditional book. I use color maps and photographs, and I am not restricted by the number of illustrations employed. Crucially, this platform is dynamic. I will update the PDFs as new material and ideas emerge. I plan to add further pages covering personnel and units linked to the battle. Readers can contact me with their ideas and insights to help evolve the Hatcher’s Run narrative. After over 160 years of misrepresentation, it is time that the deeds of nearly 60,000 combatants are appropriately acknowledged.
